Our Common Food geeft jou de kans om met andere jongeren en professionals in contact te komen die óók willen bijdragen aan gezond, eerlijk en duurzaam voedsel. Samen ga je aan de slag met oplossingen voor de voedselproblematiek en schud je je omgeving wakker middels Facebook, Twitter, weblogs, videos en reportages.

Call for papers: EADI Prize for Development Studies 2012

The European Association of Development Research and Training Institutes (EADI) announces the 13th edition of the prize for excellence in development research. The prize, worth €1 000, will be awarded for an essay on an issue of development studies in any field of the social sciences submitted and written by a postgraduate student from an EADI member country or attending a programme at an institutional member of the Association (see http://www.eadi.org/navigation/contact/members-of-eadi.html). Learning on Food Security from a regional systems perspective

The ETC Foundation is looking for a volunteer; this may well be the start of an intersting career! You can also contact our education people if you would like to do your master thesis on this topic.

Food Security (FS) is a hot topic in the Dutch and international development debate today. Therefore, learning about FS interventions has priority amongst organisations like ETC.

ETC is involved in a Learn-and-Work trajectory called “Learning on Food Security from a Regional Systems Perspective”. In this trajectory, two learning questions (see below) will be addressed through three case studies in different regions in East-Africa. These case studies will be 1. jointly prepared in a preparatory event, 2. then implemented by organisations in East-Africa in their respective regions, 3. analyzed jointly in an international workshop and then 4. reported and presented both within and outside ETC and partner network. Creative City Lab zoekt deelnemers voor de Business Course ‘Food Center Amsterdam’!

Voor het Food Center Amsterdam zoekt Creative City Lab 10 toptalenten die een bijdrage willen leveren aan een nieuwe duurzame wereld. Het mini-lab is een vijfdaagse business course die eind maart in samenwerking met het Food Center Amsterdam wordt georganiseerd en in het teken staat van het verduurzamen van de voedselketen. Every year, the Rural Sociology Group participates in a two week intensive programme on rural development in the EU. A diverse group of students from various European countries (a.o. Portugal, Poland, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Spain, Lithuania, Slovenia) work together on a case study. Through lectures and field trips scientific and practical knowledge will be aquired and then implemented in the case study analysis. See last year’s experience in San Vito di Cadore. 
 
This year, the IP takes place in the Kaunas region of Lithuania from 15 to 28 April.
 
The subject of the intensive programme is “Role of agriculture and natural resources in sustainable rural development” (AGSURUDE). The objectives is to teach last year bachelor and master students existing theories on multifunctional agriculture, natural resources management, competitiveness of rural areas and management of sustainable rural development. The programme aims to show students what it means in practice, to enable them to critically evaluate the existing situation and to define the role of agriculture and natural resources management in building up sustainability of rural areas development.
