Take Back the Economy – 1. Reframing the economy, reframing ourselves

Inspired by the presentation of Katharine Gibson on Wednesday September 4 and her latest book book ‘Take Back the Economy: an ethical guide for transforming our communities’ (http://takebackeconomy.net/) Michelle Steggerda started her weblog on which she will post her reading of the book and her effort to take back the economy.

Or the other way around, what if you are very proud of the newly installed solar panels on your roof, while you work 40 hours a week for a company that invests in polluting energy? Is there not something strange here? Request for (graduated) students (on short notice) interested in effective cooperation

The province of North-Brabant is organising two events in September and October and is looking for student who want to take part in the preparation and participate in various activities, such as sessions with young students on ‘learn to cooperate’.

This in the context “Learning about cooperation” in the European Social Innovation Week ESIW.nl) in Tilburg from 15 till 19 september 2014 and the Dutch Design Week (DDW.nl) – from 18 till 26 oktober 2014.
In a creative process concepts will be developed so that participants in both events experience cooperation. Input will be provided on themes such as trust, connectivity and translation in the context of the topsectors (such as AGRO).
Students of various disciplines can contact the organiser and do these activities in combination with other activities such as a secondment or master thesis. Follow-up activities are also possible. This can offer graduated students experience, as a step towards employment.

Twee thesis opdrachten lokaal voedsel – Almeerse Weelde

Deze zomer zijn een aantal wetenschapswinkelprojecten gestart, waardoor we verschillende studentenopdrachten in de aanbieding hebben. De opdracht waar ik laatst over schreef staat nog uit, maar we zijn nu voor een ander project ook op zoek naar twee studenten.

Dit wetenschapswinkelproject speelt zich ook af in Almere; de opdrachtgever is Almeerse Weelde. Almeerse Weelde (AW) bestaat uit ongeveer vijfentwintig mensen die zich bezighouden met lokaal voedsel. Sommigen van hen doen dat professioneel, anderen meer hobbymatig. Naast de verwerking van lokale producten, houdt AW zich bezig met bewustwording en kennisoverdracht over lokaal voedsel.

Momenteel denkt AW na over de toekomst; hoe en in welke richting kan ze zich verder ontwikkelen? Deze vraag heeft ze voorgelegd aan de wetenschapswinkel, die AW daarbij gaat ondersteunen. In die zoektocht komen verschillende vragen naar boven, zoals:

  • Wat zijn de faal- en succesfactoren van dit burgerinitiatief?
  • Hoe houdt je het samenwerkingsverband levendig?
  • Welke bedrijfsvorm past bij Almeerse Weelde?
