Waarde van streekproducten voor het Groene Hart – een case study

Welke waarden voegen (Erkende) streekproducten toe aan het Groene hart? In navolging van een eerder ACT-opdracht gaan twee studenten dit in kaart brengen voor drinkyoghurt van de Veldhoeve, een officieel erkend Groene Hart streekproduct dat sinds aantal weken exclusief wordt verkocht in Hoogvliet supermarkten. Welke relaties onderhoudt de Veldhoeve en welke waarden voegt het bedrijf met het produceren van streekproducten toe aan het Groene Hart vanuit het perspectief van de relaties? Dat is de opdracht die Miriam Romero en Camilla Ponte komende 4 weken gaan uitvoeren voor o.a. de Stichting Groene Hart Kloppend Hart. Het is een vervolg op een eerdere ACT-opdracht uitgevoerd in het kader van Groene Cirkels: een samenwerking tussen de provincie Zuid-Holland, Heineken en Alterra.

Miriam en Camilla kunnen de medewerking van Nederlandstalige studenten goed gebruiken: bij uitvoeren van de hele opdracht of bij enkele onderdelen ervan. Zoals faciliteren en verslag doen van een focus-groep met alle relaties. De studenten krijgen hiervoor 6 ects via een capita selecta vak van Rurale Sociologie. Wie interesse kan zich melden bij dirk.roep@wur.nl of bij ilse.markensteijn@wur.nl coordinator Kenniswerkplaats Wageningen Universiteit. Deze opdracht kan ook een opstap zijn naar een stage of een afstudeeronderzoek. Niet alleen voor studenten van Wageningen Universiteit.

SOLINSA project has come to an end – the results

January 31 the EU-funded research project SOLINSA has offically come to an end. A Special Issue of The Journal of Agricultural Education and Extension is in preparation. Publication of the SOLINSA issue is foreseen for early 2015. For now the results of the project are available at the SOLINSA website under four subheading:

  1. The concept of LINSA
  2. The relation between AKS and LINSA 
  3. Interacting with LINSA
  4. Policy recommendations

Transition partnersHere public reports of the different workpackages are published, six factsheets, posters and two video clips made for a SOLINSA webinar in which Gianluca Brunori and Talis Tisenkopf explain what LINSA are.  These are also available at You Tube SOLINSA Project. To get an overview the SOLINSA home page offers a guided tour through the project and its results. The notion of transition partner captures well the various supporting roles towards LINSA.

Boeren en buren door Ron Methorst – TED CAH Vilentum

Afgelopen dinsdag 4 februari heeft Ron Methorst zijn TED talk Boeren en Buren gehouden op CAH Vilentum waarin hij schets hoe de landbouw zich heeft ontwikkeld  in een veranderende (stedelijke) omgeving en de boeren van deze tijd ook  weer voor de uitdaging staan om de relatie met hun natuurlijke en sociale omgeving opnieuw vorm en inhoud te geven. Origin Food: a market for identity – course starts March 17, 2014

reblochon 2Monday March 17 we will again start the course Origin Food: a market for identity (RSO-21806). The course part of the specialization Gastronomy of the Master Food Technology, but the course is optional for all students with an interest in food with a Geographical Indication and like to study and discuss the relation between food quality, place or origin and particular practices.

Feminization of Agricultural Production in Rural China – PhD-thesis Xiangdan Meng

January 2014 Xiangdan Meng has successfully defended her PhD-thesis “Feminization of Agricultural Production in Rural China:
A Sociological Analysis“. It can still be viewed at wurtv.wur.nl.

Rural-urban migration of male labour force is an unstoppable process in China. Although some women also migrate to work in cities, most of these women return to the villages after marriage. They need to take care of the children and the family and to work on their smallholder farms. In general, women’s labour participation in agriculture has increased due to the migration of the male labourers and they have become the main labour force in smallholder agriculture. This thesis is a sociological analysis on the impact of this change on the situation of these women and on smallholder agriculture from the women’s perspective. Continue reading →
